Potlatch P314 Home: handover

Jean-Luc Guionnet/Éric La Casa

In 2010, Jean-Luc Guionnet and Éric La Casa were invited by Arika to the Uninstal festival in Glasgow to carry out a series of recordings with some inhabitants of the city in their home spaces. Four individuals were chosen and recorded and the recordings were then worked into a larger scheme with four phases. Phase 1: Domestic listening: tipping point where each inhabitant talks about their favourite room and music; Phase 2: Public Drift where in a concert in Glasgow five protagonists (Aileen Campbell, voice; Gael Leveugle, voice; Lucio Capece, saxophone; Neil Davidson, guitar; Seijiro Murayama, percussion) hear the home recordings on headphones and respond; Phase 3: House/Domestic Drift where a fifth resident listens to the four home recordings, gives comments and plays their instrument; and Phase 4: Studio/Synthesis Drift where Jean-Luc Guionnet and Éric La Casa overdubbed and mixed freely the three first phases of each apartment. Each CD of the 4CD set has the same track titles and represents the processes describes above for each apartment.
